The way the game goes is you have to tell me what movie I pulled these frames from. I tried to make a variety of difficulty levels. Most American human beings have seen the following films at some point or another. They are hardly obscure, save a couple, one of which I have included specifically for J. Price should he charm me with his reading presence. JP, if you don't get this movie, you are a poser.
Some movies should be pretty ridiculously easy, others hopefully not. I couldn't decide which stills to use at times, so if the extra hard ones don't get any takers, I'll post a medium difficulty level still of the same movie in a week or so. Have at it, friends.

I'll tag 3 and 5
3: Ghostbusters
5: Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory
Brilliant, Jacob. I wondered how tough the Ghostbusters one would be. Nice form.
OK, here's what the Stellmons could get --
7. Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure
9. Labyrinth
10. Poltergeist
15. Adventures in Babysitting
16. Ewoks (the first one -- can't remember the title)
18. Big Trouble in Little China
19. The Phone Call (classic)
Please don't be disappointed in me for not getting more. (Truth is, Ben got most of them.)
Ok so here's two movies you didn't include: Howard the Duck & The Russians are Coming.
I can't believe you left them out. I mean, Lucas did Howard the Duck. Does your grudge extend to this 80's classic? :-(
Okay, here goes nothing babe.
2. Worlds Fastest Indian
3. Ghostbusters
5. Willy Wonka
7. Mel Brooks History of the World
9. Indiana Jones
10. The Burbs????
15. Adventures in Babysitting
18. Big Trouble in Little China
Ooh, Darren, nice one with Big Trouble. And Jade, you have to tell me if it was you or Ben that got the ewok movie. Bonus point to whoever remembers the name of it. But yes, you and Ben are spot on. Great work on Poltergeist, too. One of my favorite scenes.
Darren, good guess on the Burbs....when I put that still up, it was meant to trick people into thinking that was the Burbs. But Poltergeist it is. Try again on 2, 7, and 9. Nice work, fellas, nice.
Also, Stellmons, fantastic work on number 19. It takes a certain kind of character to remember movies like that one.
Wow. I don't know many of these.
#5 is the original (and inferior) Willy Wonka
#7 Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure?
#9 is Labyrinth--go David Bowie!
#11 is About a Boy, one of my faves
Is #13 Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets?
#15 is Adventures in Babysitting, and the only movie I'm ashamed that I know. O, Mighty Thor!
#17 is Jeremiah Johsnon, I'm pretty sure
How'd I do?
OOoooooh!! Becca! You knocked down a couple more! Yeah, way to go on #11, one of my all-time favorites too. I could watch that movie everyday and still laugh when they sing with their eyes closed. Love that movie. Also, great work on #17. Look at you. I wasn't sure many would know that one....it's old enough to have a musical intermission, after all. Try again on #13.
Also, "inferior"? As in, the lesser of the two? Becca, if this is truly what you are saying, we might be in a fight. I'm pleased you recognized it, but........INFERIOR?!! 'Splain yo'self, woman.
Allen says 14 is The Breakfast Club, and 1 might be Caddyshack. Where's the clip from Better Off Dead?
I'm sorry, but "Cheer Up Charly" ruins the original Willy Wonka every time. I can't stand that sappy chicka-wah-ah seventies music. It's fine if you don't love Johnny Depp, but how can you NOT like a movie with Tim Burton + Helena Bonham Carter + Christopher Lee?
And the squirrels were KEPT instead of substituted with geese. The only thing I miss from the original is "SNOZberRy? Whoever heard of a SNOZberry?"
HEY. Cheer up Charlie used to make me CRY when I was kid. I'll have you know. I still whistle to myself whenever it is late at night and I am passing a laundromat. Pffffff. That Johnny Depp version sucked. The oompa loompa? Ungh. Gene Wilder is a sexy beast.
Number 1 is not caddyshack, but give Allen several high fives for getting #14....that one was a toughie. Well played, the Renfroes.
My Better Off Dead is VHS. Give me another year.
And for your information, I DO love Johnny Depp. I love him all over.
You would.
( . . . cry at Cheer up Charly)
( . . . love Johnny Depp all over)
Is one of these What's Eating Gilbert Grape? I'm too lazy to look at the numbers.
No. I wanted to add a little Gilbert but the DVD was out in my snowed-over, messy car.......just too much effort all around. Maybe in the next round? Someday?
A Johnny Depp movie might be on this quiz though......but I don't want to give anything away.
OK, we're trying to figure out which one is the Johnny Depp clip. I have two guesses -- is 4 Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas? Or is 13 Edward Scissorhands? Ben swears it isn't -- he says they never leave their little town so there's no way there's a scene where they cross a big, scary bridge. But the cinematography just matches in my head.
Ooooooooooh.........no.....those guesses are wrong....but......oh, Jaders, the two of you have almost hit it. I don't want to give it away!
Is #13 Secret Window?
Emily! what fun. i am glad you and Joe enjoyed this activity so much as to do it yourselves.
My guesses (many are probably totally wrong-o):
1. Stripes (?)
2. ?
3. Ghostbusters
4. Young Guns
5. Willy Wonka
6. ?
7. Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure
8. ?
9. Labyrinth (remind me of the babe. what babe?)
10. Poltergeist
11. About a Boy
12. ?
13. ?
14. Breakfast Club (I wanna be an air force ranger...)
15. Adventures in Babysitting
16. Caravan of Courage: An Ewok Adventure (though i enjoyed the Wilfred Brimley laden Battle for Endor better)
17. Jeremiah Johnson
18. Big Trouble in Little China (i almost used this one myself, well done)
19. ?
20. Edward Scissorhands (the show and tell scene, methinks)
I am ashamed not to know more, and I am sure when I go back through the comments I will be kicking myself, perhaps in the crotch (which is possible if lying down)
#13 is not Secret Window.
And Zufelt, you totally scored the Depp movie reference. Edward Scissorhand's Show-and-Tell scene it is! All those shelves of globes....Tim Burton is such a nutter.
D.Z. look at you go. I'm so happy you started this. #1 is not Stripes but you guys are right--that IS Bill Murray. Try again on #4...that one is a tough one, but most of you have seen the movie.
And Darren, a grand slap on the back for knowing the correct title for Caravan of Courage. Battle for Endor was good indeed, but the little furry white guy tripped me out. Caravan of Courage has worse acting, too, if it's possible. But who doesn't cry when the black ewok gets killed? Show me that man who refuses to cry.
i am impressed with how many people have guessed the ewok movie so far. you have high caliber friends. I plead the 5th on crying when the black ewok dies. I also plead the 5th when asked if I owned an ewok stuffed animal and would ride around with him attached to the handle bars of my bike.
I can't believe that 4 is NOT YOUNG GUNS!?!?!! I was sure as sure can be. damn. i am embarrassed.
i knew that Stripes was going to be wrong for 1, but a man has got to try sometimes, and this was my time.
I guessed on a few others too, so I hope those don't have the same fate as these two poor examples.
No, Darren, you were dead on for all of them except 1 and 4. And I can see how you would be thinking Young Guns. It makes me wish I had put a still of Young Guns up there.
I too am impressed with the ewok guesses, but also the Poltergeist guesses. Good job remembering that awesome scene. I must say I am more impressed that you may (or may not) have ridden around on your bike with a stuffed ewok doll. I also plead the fifth on whether I myself have an ewok doll and whether or not it sets next to an E.T. doll I may or may not have sitting with my metal lunchbox collection.
Also, you really almost used Big Trouble? Gosh, Zufelt, we are truly kindred. It creeps me out at times.
Well..i am late to the game, and i think i got most of them, so i'll try to supply some that haint been guessed...
1-Lost in Translation (i think there is a chimp co-star in this frame)
2-It
hold on...i'll post later...we are running out the door. be right back.
I can't get these. I can't. Post the key soon.
4. Billy Jack? The Good, Bad, and the Ugly?, Butch and Sundance, Lonesome Dove (Don’t think it’s any of these…and multiple guesses isn’t very fair.) BTW, have you ever seen Billy Jack? I would think that you have, but if you have not, I would think that it is a film that would further complete you…it’s a very Gillz cult classic…ack. this one is tough.
6. Freaky Friday? No no no no no no n n nono no n on JAWS!
8. Harold and Maude? This one is truly giving me fits, because I have seen whatever film this still is in, possibly with you once ages ago…The picture quality also smacks of late 70’s early 80’s…
12. Better off Dead?
13. Not a clue on
earth….really…looks Tim Burton-ish, sort of…Stumped.
Joseph Griffin, I swear to heaven. When I posted 1 and 2, I said to myself, that'll stump 'em. Except for Joe.........and behold.
Hi ho Silver away. And yes, the chimp. It was a toss-up between posting Murray or the chimp. Honestly. Hornestlah.
AND YES!!!!!!! I thought 6 was my EASIEST ONE!!! I can't believe no one guessed Jaws yet!! Yes yes yes yes yes yes....it's the first family to enter the water on July 4. I swear the image of them holding hands and mom's saggy butt hanging out of her black one-piece was seared into my brain forever. Ha! Well played. Although, if I ever get Freaky Friday on DVD I already know what still I would want to use from it. In fact, I think we had a conversation about that precise scene that night I was helping you pick songs for Valentines Day on KFLO. I have a vague recollection......
Number 8 is indeed Harold and Maude. Bravo son, bravo. I am clapping.
Number 12 is a tough one. I'll post another still from the same movie and you should get it.
I'm surprised you don't know 13.......really, Joe? Hmmmmmm.......interesting. I would have thought that one would have been ridiculously obvious for you.........maybe not. Maybe it's a been a while. I'll post a different scene and you'd have to be cross-eyed and asleep not to get it.
And you got number 4, too. But I'll post another still from it just so you can make your final decision. Nice work. Merry Christmas.
