What........? Why..........? How........?

I can't take anymore, Mr. Lucas. You have crappified so many things....I didn't think it could get worse.....really.....I mean, I was patient, you're an older man now, not quite as up on your game as you used to be.....I just thought, let him do this but know that it isn't real. None if it. Star Wars I-III are figments of the collective unconsciousness's imagination to aid a dying movie director into a slightly cushier retirement.

But no longer. I'm not gonna take it. This--what the hell is this? It looks like an extended Final Fantasy cut scene. I thought the trailer was another lame video game ad. Pixar's Toy Story came out in 1995 and they still had better-looking graphics. How dare you give people these cartoony crap images of Yoda, Jabba the Hut, even C3PO..... What gives you the right? Why haven't we rebelled yet? Why haven't the pure golden nerds of the 70s and 80s generation ganged up and assassinated Lucas yet? For his own good! I can't........I feel so much anger.....my hands.....they keep clenching.....I feel an extraordinary energy inside my bones, building to somehow prevent the shame and embarrassment this movie will inevitably bring upon itself. Why. WHY?!

I watched Hellboy II for five dollars in West Jordan the other evening. It was more charismatic, more beautiful, more charming and interesting and visually captivating than anything Lucas has done in this century. The creatures in Hellboy II made Darth Maul look like a Disney villain. No, worse. Maleficent was way scarier than Darth Maul. I wash my hands of George Lucas from now til forever. Sorry, old friend.

Oh yeah... Hellboy II... I totally agree with you on the lame StarWars animations (except for the fact that *Pixar* animated Toy Story). ;)

Ok, I have to disagree a little, Gillz. And maybe I just like being devil's advocate. Maybe Lucas is the devil.

(Before I do that, I totally agree about Hellboy II. Mignola and del Toro together make beautiful monsters. That was one of the best movies I've seen this year.)

Alright, I admit Lucas is guilty of many sins but I think letting Star Wars go may be the best thing he's done since the original trilogy. Have you seen the Star Wars: Clone Wars that Genndy Tartakovsky did? It was an amazing vision of the Star Wars universe. It wasn't realistic looking, it was very stylized and I daresay it may have been better than the new episodes.

This new movie looks interesting. A little cheesier that Genndy's but I'm glad it's not super realistic looking. I hate when animation looks too real, trying for some type of super realism. Did you ever see the Disney atrocity "Dinosaur"? Super realistic crap fest.

I don't have high hopes for the movie. I hate the addition of Asoka, the little girl Jedi but I'm probably going to enjoy it for the most part.

I'm more excited to see this 100 episode animated series headed up by Genndy and Dave Filoni who does Avatar.

George Lucas is not directing anymore but there will be more Star Wars. That seems like a win for me.

Man, I don't know though. What if Star Wars turns into The Land Before Time? You know? Totally awesome movie gone to hell because now you can't think of the original without throwing up because of all the horrible sick sequels.

I feel like if I were a pirate I would collect all of the Star Wars paraphenalia and bury them on some desert island and only give treasure maps the people who won't exploit it. Is that too dramatic?

I like the idea of Lucas as the devil, though. That somehow makes everything so much more interesting. As for the series, I've heard but not seen of it. Maybe I'll give them a try before cutting them down. Maybe.

Oh, right, Pixar. I'll revise that.

I am in complete agreeance with you. And we need to play. Love you!

Ironically Pixar started off at ILM.

All that aside--man you write good! I'm glad I ran across your blog--it will make for interesting reading. (intentionally bad english included at no extra charge)

Oh, Jacob Roecker......I have missed your side comments. You are welcome here anytime. And I shall stalk you accordingly. Us second-placers have to stick together.

Amen to 2nd placers!!!

I've got a brainstorm about another Thief (yes, you could call Mr. Lucas a thief). My route to work right now takes as little as 11 minutes. But if I hit those traffic lights wrong it takes nearly twice as long.

That's thievery! Someone should stage a protest. We should organize another Woodstock just to get rid of the life sucking parasites! Why haven't I organized it yet? Why haven't I googled Joni Mitchell, Joan Baez, and Jefferson Airplane to see if they're still alive? I haven't found a good alternative solution.

What's the Lucas alternative to providing star wars [now worthy of uncapitalization :-( ] stuff to a willing audience? Unfortunately there is no easy answer that doesn't involve sucking a year or more of his life. So we end up with this thing.

I think the problem isn't what it looks like, but the way it's marketed. If it's not sold as "star wars" would it still be ok?

It would still be lame, but it would be okay.

I agree with James on this Em.

It may be cheesy and it is most definitely stylized in it's look but I am a fan of more of things I love; and I love Star Wars. The cartoon James referred to was beautiful and added depth to the universe.

I fully plan to not love it as much as Empire Strikes Back or Episode III but it will still entertain me and I will get to see cool uses for the force and light sabers that I would not have previously thought of. That makes mt giddy and want to pee. So I say bring it on...and serve it hot.

PS. don't get mad when you hear that this so called animated atrocity is going to be a television series and this movie is just the launching point for that series. Also, don't get mad when you hear that there will be a live action TV series for the universe as well.

George has let go of his leach and I am excited to see where the beast goes.

Just kidding, Darren and James. I'm.....sure.....it will be....fine.

Live-action?

I feel like a badger and Star Wars is the shiny object I picked up and buried. I don't like it when my shiny things get dug up and dragged around.

The first time I saw that preview, I think I died from pure disgust. CLONE wars?! REALLY?! I agree. Entirely.

I second what has already been said about the Samurai Jack style Genndy Tartakovsky Clone wars series. Easily better than any of the new Star Wars movies. But other than that I'm afraid I can't sympathize. I've been bagging on Lucas since the 9th grade, don't know why only now people realize he's one part lucky and nine parts hack.

And yes, hellboy was rad. you need to read the comics. I suggest "The Chained Coffin" trade paperback.
