Scholar-in-Training

Captured on film by our supervisor, Hollie and Dad look over grading materials for a freshman composition workshop. Our good little scholar is always on her best behavior at school. Of course, I was in the next room over with my own grading group when this picture was taken. By the time I came to pick up Hollie, David had his feet up, reclined as far back as those swivel chairs can get, with Hollie asleep on his chest and his own eyes shut. Fortunately our supervisor had put her camera away for that photo opportunity. (Though most scholars will tell you that another great characteristic for PhD candidates is the ability to fall asleep during mandatory meetings.)

I'm a lame-o and never leave comments. But just had to let you know that you are my HERO's for keeping up with all your teaching/scholastic stuff and raising such an adorable baby. Seriously how do you do it? And those Easter eggs!? Coolest egg idea of the century.

My dad used to open the bottom drawer of his desk and sit me in it while he worked on his dissertation. Hollie, good job behaving at school.

This morning we were in the car and Minnie said "Mommy, when I'm a big girl, I'm going to have a baby and my baby's name is going to be Hollie." I said,"That's a good name." She said "Wait, do we already have someone in our family named Hollie?" I said, "Your baby cousin's name is Hollie." She said, "No, no, no....my baby's name is going to be Flossie". So just in case you were considering it, Min's called dibs on Flossie. :)

P.S. David looks like he could be on my new favorite show Duck Dynasty.
